Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service & Patient Support
  • Provide a warm, welcoming environment for patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued.
  • Guide patients through frame selection, offering expert advice on styles that complement their features and lifestyle.
  • Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and care to help them make informed decisions.
  • Clearly explain insurance coverage, pricing, and payment options to ensure transparency.
  • Address any concerns or questions with patience and professionalism, building lasting relationships with patients.
  • Frame & Lens Fitting
  • Take precise measurements, including pupillary distance and segment height, to ensure optimal vision and comfort.
  • Adjust and customize frames for a perfect fit, considering comfort, durability, and aesthetic preferences.
  • Recommend lens enhancements such as anti-reflective coatings, blue-light protection, and prescription sunglasses to improve the patient’s visual experience.
  • Order Processing & Lab Coordination
  • Process orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy in prescription details and special requests.
  • Work closely with optical labs to track orders, ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance.
  • Verify completed eyewear before dispensing to patients, ensuring all specifications meet standards.
  • Repairs & Adjustments
  • Perform minor repairs, including tightening screws, replacing nose pads, and adjusting frames.
  • Use specialized tools to reshape or modify frames for improved fit and functionality.
  • Store Maintenance & Inventory
  • Keep the retail area clean, well-organized, and visually appealing.
  • Assist in managing inventory, ensuring popular frames and accessories are well-stocked.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and security measures for product handling and loss prevention.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 2 years prior work as an optician or optical assistant.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with optical measurements, prescriptions, lens materials, and frame adjustments.
  • People Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient education and relationship building.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex optical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
  • Customer Service: A patient-focused approach with a commitment to delivering a friendly, personalized experience.
  • Professionalism: Reliable, punctual, and maintains a polished, positive attitude in all interactions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A team player who builds trust and long-term relationships with patients and colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to take accurate measurements and process and follow up on orders with precision.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent service.
  • Certification: Certification by the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) is a plus, but not required.
