Join the NVFS Family: We are looking to hire a bilingual Spanish-speaking S Youth Counselor to join our Youth Initiatives team at NVFS! As the Substance Abuse Youth Counselor, you will provide brief case management for youth and their families who have been significantly affected by opioid abuse and would benefit from assistance in accessing substance abuse related resources due to barriers such as language, literacy, immigration status, limited technology access or competency, low cultural navigation, and/or needs in multiple domains.
Services include explanation of available resources, assistance and support enrolling and engaging in services, and basic needs assessment to identify and address barriers to clients accessing services including through referrals and psychoeducation. Services are designed to be accessible to clients through location, language, and cultural familiarity. Services are provided in person at a location of the client’s choice to include the home and community.
As the Youth Counselor, you will provide short-term, therapeutic case management services to address the families' unique barriers to successfully connecting to substance abuse services.

The starting salary is low to mid 50s.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct intake for all referred
- Provide short-term case management services to assigned case load, in accordance with the Service Delivery Model, including assessment, goal plan development, and
- Provide psychoeducation and intervention in accordance with clients’ goal plan and resource
- Provide one-time individual and group psychoeducation on substance abuse resources to identified
- Participate actively in team meetings and collaborative service delivery models with other team members to effectively address community, family, and individual
- Initiate and maintain collaborative contact with other agencies working with the youth and their family, including the referral source, and appropriate school personnel in order to effectively coordinate service delivery and monitor clients’ progress towards
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community services providing services for youth and
- Participate in regular individual and group supervisions as directed by
- Assure confidentiality policies and procedures are followed to protect the rights of clients, that reports to authorities occur in the mandated time frames and that critical incident reviews related to these procedures are completed and
- Maintain client files in accordance with program/licensing requirements and NVFS

Your Background: We understand that you may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences.
- Prefer one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other human services field from an accredited college or university; OR
- Associate’s degree with at least four (4) years of related work
- Must have at least two (2) years of related direct service experience providing:
- individual and/or group services to youth and families,
- case management, and
- working with at-risk
- Experience providing services to immigrants, recently reunified families, and
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of substance
- Experience providing direct services to individuals in crisis strongly
- Oral and written fluency in English required; Spanish language fluency required. Additional language skills always
- Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.

Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of background checks and Motor Vehicle Record check (in order to transport clients as needed) upon hire.
- Must have reliable transportation to visit client homes and other designated community locations.
- May be called upon to work beyond normal working hours.
