Join the NVFS Family : We are looking to hire a Case Manager to join the NVFS in our Community Housing team! As the Case Manager in the Moving to Work division, you will assist clients in achieving eventual self-sufficiency in the areas of family systems, housing, budgeting, employment, educational training, health, and other human services, with an emphasis on long-term economic and housing stability. Clients may include individuals with varying disabilities, victims of domestic violence, families experiencing homelessness and / or other traumatic experiences. As the Case Manager, you will utilize a Trauma-Informed and Housing First approach to collaborate with clients in achieving their goals, while striving to reduce the amount of time that clients are experiencing barriers to stable housing. Community Housing uses the Housing First approach in working with all customers. As a Community Housing Case Manager, you will serve community-based clients throughout the Northern Virginia region.

These programs work in partnership with other nonprofit organizations, Community Service Boards and County Housing and Community Development programs

This position has a starting salary in the upper mid 40s to low 50s.
In this role, you will be responsible for :
- Conduct comprehensive initial screening process to determine eligibility for program services, providing assessment, intake and enrollment where appropriate.
- Manage a caseload of specific clients including developing Service Goal Plan, budgeting, and supporting clients’ successes in achieving short- and long-term goals.
- Conduct quality assurance surveys during and after the completion of the program to accurately gauge client satisfaction.
- Conduct outreach and establish network of community resources and services.
- Facilitate support-educational groups to increase client knowledge of relevant life skills and community resources including, but not limited to, basics of renting, fair housing, self-esteem, safety, parenting, child care, nutrition, money management, credit counseling, home maintenance, and good housekeeping skills.
- Make referrals to other services as needed and work with other community providers to provide collaborative services to clients.
- Use clinical skills and knowledge of behavioral health issues to mediate client concerns and de-escalate situations when necessary.
- Conduct unit inspections to ensure compliance with safety and federal / funder regulations.
- Conduct and document home visits to document progress and ensure that clients continue to meet program guidelines and eligibility.
- Process re-certifications in compliance with funder requirements, if applicable.
- Outreach to landlords for mediation, negotiation, and tenant relations.
- Monitor direct assistance that can be used for financial support, rent, utility, and security deposit payments.
- Compile and prepare appropriate tenant / landlord contracts and landlord check request payments to ensure timely delivery.
- Participate in regular supervision with supervisor by providing regular updates and preparing case presentations.
- Maintain client files in accordance with program requirements and NVFS guidelines.
- Maintain current level of knowledge on program software and other information on housing assistance programs.
- Comply with the Standards and Ethics for Housing Counseling.
- Maintain certification CEUs if certified.
