In this role, you will be responsible for:
Prospecting:
- Develop a strong understanding of NVFS programs, participant barriers and needs, and organizational priorities by actively engaging in internal program planning and grants team meetings.
- Research, identify, and evaluate prospective funding opportunities from corporate, community, and private foundations, ensuring alignment with internal funding needs.
- Attend pre-application webinars for prospective grants and synthesize information to share with grants and program teams.
- Communicate funding opportunities to grants and program teams and participate in decision-making on which grants to pursue based on priorities.
- Research and analyze local and regional community needs data for use in grant proposals.
- Manage the grant proposal process and work collaboratively with grants, program, and finance teams to develop, write, compile, and submit grant proposals for private grant funding opportunities in a timely and efficient manner.
- Create checklists of required application materials to be submitted based on Requests for Proposals.
- Establish application timelines and communicate responsibilities with program staff.
- Author and manage content preparation of proposals and ensure submission of high-quality grant applications.
- Responsible for completing and/or compiling all application components, which may include letters of intent/inquiry, full proposal narratives, budget narratives, and other requirements as specified by the funder.
- Coordinate with program staff to gather qualitative and quantitative data for grant reports and co-author reports to meet funder requirements while fostering ongoing donor engagement.
- Maintain grant files from initial review through closeout using the Agency’s grant management database, which may include uploading documents, using established naming conventions, and regularly updating grant/project information based on internal and external communications.
- Facilitate the internal review process for award documents by program, finance, and executive staff prior to signature.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Studies, or related field preferred
- Familiarity and/or experience with grant or technical writing; familiarity with GrantNavigator a plus but not required
- Excellent writing, editing, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple programs and departments with diverse staff at all levels to successfully garner information
- Proven ability to research, analyze, and systematically compile information from a variety of sources in an organized and cohesive manner with particular attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to set and meet multiple deadlines and display strong organizational capability
- Oral and written fluency in English; additional language skills always welcome
- Digital and technical proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be able to demonstrate and live the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability
- Successful completion of background checks upon hire
- May be called upon to work beyond normal working hours
