What are the responsibilities and job description for the LVD Tribal Resource Crew position at Northern Waters Casino Resort?
The Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and the USDA-Ottawa National Forest
have signed a Master Participating Agreement (MPA), which allows for a partnership and Tribal Natural
Resources Crew to be established.
We are seeking ONE (1) INDIVIDUAL who is interested in training for and being hired on a Tribal Natural
Resources Crew, who will perform various duties and tasks on Forest Service lands.

- Heritage Paraprofessional Work
- Timber Related Activities
- Fire Related Activities
- Seed Collection
- Invasive Species Treatment Activities
- Other Activities that are allowable through the MPA
Other Important Information:
- Hired Crew Members’ starting wage is $17.00/hour. Pay will be weekly.
- The current work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- Since Crew Members will be contracted workers, no benefits or holidays will be paid.
- Crew Members are expected to follow USDA-Forest Service policies while working on Forest
Service lands, but the Tribal Resource Crew is supervised by the Tribe.
- Mileage, a vehicle use fee, and/or per diem will be paid, if applicable.
- Positions are trainable.
- Public Lands Corp (PLC) Certificates are available for crew members who meet the
requirements, which allows for direct hire authority with the USDA-Forest Service for two
years!
- Native preference applies to these positions.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Crew Members are expected to work in all weather conditions, wear appropriate attire for
working in heavy forested areas, must be physically able to perform the duties of the
positions, and must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.
