Job Summary
Position is off-campus at the YMCA.
Under the guidance of the After-School Program Coordinator, the After-School Group Leader provides direction for the program and classroom and implements program reading and interactive curriculum/activities. The After-School Group Leader also provides quality experience to children and parents that focus on the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

Education/Qualifications
- Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
- Sheridan College Student currently enrolled
- Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater
- Student must qualify for Federal Work Study to be considered for employment.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Mission with Character, Listen 1st and Child Abuse Prevention training within 6 month of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
The ability to engage and interact with kids, parents and staff in a positive way. To maintain a safe friendly environment with the ability to lift, stand, sit and move with the kids.

Responsibility/Duty
- Implement curriculum within the established guidelines.
- Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervise the children, classroom and all activities in a safe environment.
- Reading and literacy activities with school aged children in small groups
- Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Maintain program site and equipment.
- Maintain required program records.
- Participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, staff training
