Position Summary
As an Environmental Services Technician, you will perform a vital role within Northfield Hospital Clinics (NH C), maintaining our high standards of cleanliness. You will perform various cleaning tasks in order to provide a clean, safe, and infection-free environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors. This position does not provide direct patient care and operates similar to a Custodian or Housekeeper.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assembles materials and supplies from supply areas and transports to work areas.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, vacuums, and dust mops floors.
- Operates and maintains floor machines, sweepers, vacuums, carpet cleaning equipment, and snow blowers.
- Cleans areas by washing furnishings, walls, ledges, toilets, basins, tubs, showers, vents, and equipment.
- Gathers trash, nonhazardous waste and sharps, and recyclables.
- Handles hazardous pharmaceutical waste in accordance with hospital protocol, including transporting hazardous waste disposal containers.
- Cleans, refinishes, and maintains a variety of floor covering.
- Cleans stains and spills, replaces burnt out lights, shovels snow and makes deliveries as needed.
- Sets up rooms for meetings.
Selection Criteria:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Basic math skills
- Ability to lift up to 51 lbs.
- Prefer previous custodian, housekeeping, or cleaning experience in a hospital or clinic setting
Schedule:
- 80hrs/2wks
- Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
- Every sixth weekend
- Sign-up requirement for holidays
