Job Summary
The Nurse Anesthetist provides general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, sedation, and related supportive care in a team care setting, or independently, for patients of all ages at Northfield Hospital.

Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on FTE, market analysis, and internal equity considerations. The flat rate hourly amount for this position is: $129.27. This amount reflects the base salary for this position.

Performs preoperative evaluation by physical exam, assessing staff notes, progress notes, lab work, and patient histories to determine the most appropriate anesthetic management. The CRNA may order additional analysis, consultations, lab work, and peri-anesthetic medications as warranted

Evaluates patient's condition and recommends anesthetics to be used

Monitors functioning of all equipment and induces general and/or regional anesthesia or sedation by using anesthesia techniques and medications

Maintains and manages the anesthetic by monitoring appropriate physical, physiochemical, and biochemical indicators such as blood pressure, heart rate, EKG, blood loss, patient position, pulmonary compliance, arterial blood gases, oxygen saturation, and other diagnostic studies

Oversees recovery from anesthesia by observing the appropriate indicators in surgery as well as the post-anesthesia recovery room; performs post-operative evaluation as required.

Handles hazardous pharmaceutical waste in accordance with hospital protocol, including properly disposing of hazardous wastes, ensuring hazardous waste disposal containers are closed, and recognizing any hazardous waste spills or emergencies and contacting the hospital’s hazardous waste coordinator accordingly.
Qualifications:

Current RN licensure in Minnesota

Current certification as a CRNA by a national nurse certification organization acceptable to the Minnesota Board of Nursing

CRNA with Minnesota license

Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS (PEARS), or willingness to obtain within 6 months of start date (company paid).

Preferred experience with Regional Anesthesia and Epidurals
