Job Summary
Partners with nursing staff to provide direct patient care and clerical duties. Provides ancillary functions to support the daily operations of the unit. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is: $18.37-$25.93. This range reflects the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities

Provides Patient Centered Care
-
Makes observations/collects health status information in a timely manner per policies and procedures as delegated by the RN.

Reports observations to RN. Immediately reports concerns, changes in patient condition that are outside normal parameters. To include: hydration, elimination, nutrition, mobility, mood, skin changes, pain, vital signs and any problems the patient is having.

Performs personal care and interventions for patient needs as per policies and procedures and unit schedules. To include: baths, showers, backrubs, shampoos, shaves and foot care.

Assists with patient admissions, discharges and transfers.

Provides and documents daily activities and care provided to patients accurately and in a timely manner. To include: assists with meals and feeding, ambulates, turns and positions patients, provides fresh water and between meal nourishments.

Communicates effectively in a caring manner with compassion.

Responds appropriately and in a timely manner to unit and patient calls and alarms.

Provides for the comfort needs of patients and timed position changes to prevent pressure injuries.

Performs weights and accurately records I & O, collects excretory specimens and obtains routine bedside blood glucose.

Contributes to a Safe Environment for Patients, Visitors and Staff.

Provides and maintains a clean, safe patient care environment, stocking patient care supplies, cleaning patient reusable equipment, carts, and surfaces.

Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly.

Protects patients and self from infectious and communicable disease through proper use of universal precautions.

Protects patients and self from injury during transfers, lifts, repositioning and transporting.

Clerical Tasks
-
Handles unit communications, functioning as a receptionist, greeting patients and families, handling many types of telephone communications.

Communicates with multidisciplinary health care team members to facilitate the exchange of information needed to secure patient services or plan for patient care.

Review and processes Expanse orders that reflex to the HUC. Notifies appropriate nursing staff and/or department as needed.

Schedules tests, procedures, and appointments as ordered.

Preform duties as directed from the Registered Nurse.

Required Qualifications
-
At least 18 years of age
-
Registered in good standing with the Minnesota Department of Health Nursing Assistant Registry (NAR)

Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification for Health Care Providers within 6 months of hire

Current Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months of hire

Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written English

Prior nursing assistant or HUC experience, preferred
Schedule
-
64hrs/wks
-
7:45am-4:15pm, 4 days per week, consideration can be made for 6.5-hour shifts Monday-Friday
