Job Summary
Professionally bridges the communication gap between healthcare staff and Spanish-speaking patients/families at the hospital and clinic locations.
Key Accountabilities
- Interprets between patients/families and healthcare staff in various departments of the hospital or at any of the clinics in Northfield, Farmington, Faribault, Lakeville, and Kenyon.
- Assists Spanish-speaking patients/families/others in setting up clinic appointments in person or over the phone.
- Coordinates interpreter services for languages other than Spanish to meet patient communication needs.
- Translates written hospital documents into Spanish.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish
- Prior Medical Spanish interpreting experience
- Registration on the MN Department of Health Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster
- Completion of 40-hour Community Interpreter program
- Post offer successful passing score on Spanish-English Interpretation Test (company-paid and completed remotely via phone)
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of basic office equipment
- Valid Driver's License
Schedule

Casual/Call, 8-hour shifts (regular weekday hours are 8:00am-4:30pm)

May include travel to off-site clinics (eligible for mileage reimbursement from the hospital to the clinics, if required)

If called, option to come in after hours or on weekends, with a minimum of 2 hours of pay for each response.

Competitive Wages, $24.17-$34.12 per hour (experience and education may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended)

Shift Differential Pay: Evenings and Nights, $1.00, Unrestricted Call, $4.00
