A Day in the Life:
The Assistant to the Dean of Students provides essential support in managing the day-to-day operations of the Dean of Students’ office. Key duties include scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, managing attendance records, and responding to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff. This individual ensures the effective communication of school policies and coordinates various activities, such as weekly student restrictions and permission tracking. The Assistant also manages communication with multiple departments, including health services, college counseling, and academic offices, to facilitate smooth student life operations. Additionally, this individual provides general administrative support to the Deans, including organizing meetings, meals, and travel arrangements, and overseeing certain aspects of student life programming. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of attention to detail and ability to multitask in an administrative setting.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Previous administrative support experience
- Outstanding interpersonal, written, verbal, and telephone communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to work with students, parents, and staff in a professional, calm manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Expertise in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word
Experience with data storage/retrieval systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher strongly preferred
- Experience in an academic environment, particularly in student services or administration
Familiarity with Google Suite and school attendance management systems
This is an in-office position.
This position is 37.5 hours per week with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8 AM - 4 PM.
