What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Northfield Retirement Communities?
Salary: Negotiable, dependent upon experience.
The purpose of this position is to maintain systems to operate the business office in an effective, efficient manner; to maintain financial systems in compliance with federal, state and local requirements; assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in preparing monthly financial statements, report preparation, and business office operations.
Experience in healthcare field with medical billing strongly preferred.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise balancing of daily receipts
- Reconcile bank statements
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports
- Maintain accurate files of all business office records so that they can be promptly retrieved
Education
- High school diploma
- Degree in Accounting, Finance preferred but not required. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- Ability to learn, understand, operate, and troubleshoot accounting software systems.
Experience
- Strong background in accounting procedures, including monthly bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and financial statement preparation required.
- Experience preparing financial reports
- Experience with information technology, including Microsoft Office Products.
- Knowledge and skill working with Medicare/Medicaid highly desired
- Must possess organizational skills, and the ability to work quickly and accurately.

- Maintain the flexibility to work at either campus at administration request
- Physical ability to perform job-related duties, which may require lifting up to 50lbs, standing, bending, transferring, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing and pulling.
- Possess personal qualities making it possible to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work at any Northfield Retirement Communities Long Term Care or Assisted Living facility as assigned.
