SUMMARY
Northline Seafoods is a growing seafood processing company looking for an experienced and motivated Tender Offload Manager to assist our extensive deck crew with pre-season preparations, in season operations and post-season wrap up. The position will have a heavy emphasis on pumping salmon and managing our cargo deck in support of overall production goals. The role may be expanded to include an off-season function in the final processing of Bristol Bay salmon in Bellingham, WA. As we grow, we’re looking for an all-hands-on-deck perspective.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage the safe and efficient offloading of fish from tenders to achieve production goals.
- Manage the loading and unloading of cargo from and to tender vessels.
- Work closely with the Freight & Net Manager to coordinate fisher supplies and gear between the barge and tenders.
- Maintain and manage proper stowage/lashing of all cargo on the barge.
- Safely and efficiently manage offload crew to operate cranes to run fish pumps and move cargo.
- Oversee tying and untying of tender vessels.
- Provide maintenance, repair, and basic troubleshooting of fish pumping activities.
- Ensure deck gear and storage areas are clean, organized and in a safe and seaworthy condition.
- Ensure the deck crew operates in an efficient and safe manner with an emphasis on a zero-accident mentality.
- Maintain proper records, particularly regarding fish offloads and services.
- Ensure deck crew are receiving tender paperwork and that office personnel receive paperwork in a timely manner.
- In coordination with the Deck Manager, ensure deck crew is ready to receive tenders and offload fish.
- Complete all safety training and documentation as required by local, state and federal regulations with emphasis on Coast Guard requirements.
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 5 years experience on vessels or plants with emphasis on boat tie ups, fish pumping and crane operations.
- Working knowledge of fish pumps is essential for this role.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for safely moving numerous types of cargo at sea.
- Knowledge of Bristol Bay operations and servicing a large fleet of tenders and fishing boats highly preferred.
- Crane and forklift experience is a must for this role.
- Knowledge on appropriate use of emergency equipment located on the barge.
- Ability to solve problems and make clear rational decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work as a team with up to 24 deckhands and assistants.
- Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to routinely work 12 hour shifts while occasionally working 16 during peak season.
- Positive, all-hands-on-deck attitude.

This job operates primarily on a barge at sea in Bristol Bay and at the dock in Bellingham, WA. This role routinely uses equipment common in transferring and moving cargo including cranes, lines, slings, spreader bars, etc. Additionally, this position will require advanced knowledge of fish pump setup and maintenance. Employee must be able stand, walk and generally navigate a wet and cold barge environment for long periods of time. Employee must be able to navigate tight spaces and climb multiple flights of stairs without assistance. Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance. This is an at-sea position and employee will be exposed to various weather conditions.
