We are actively seeking a highly skilled Cloud Governance Engineer to join our Platform Engineering Team based in Dallas, TX. This role requires a seasoned expert with deep knowledge in cloud architecture, best practices, and enterprise-wide technology integration. The successful candidate will design and implement robust cloud governance solutions and policies that meet both current and future needs of our diverse business units and help keep our cloud platforms safe and secure.
Responsibilities:
Design and deploy cloud solutions in alignment with organizational policies, standards, and best practices
Identify Governance needs for the organization
Develop and maintain comprehensive Compliance policies and relevant tests
Create and maintain deployment automation for new or updated policies
Lead efforts in enterprise data strategy, governance, stewardship, and metadata management to ensure data accuracy and accessibility
Build relevant cloud infrastructure to support governance and compliance enforcement including:
Create IAM roles and policies that enable policy enforcement
Lambda and/or containers to execute compliance policies
Security groups and rules that allow compliance enforcement traffic
Create and maintain observability and reports of compliance trends
Write scripts to extend the compliance platform where there are gaps in coverage
Act as a technical leader within multi-disciplined, matrixed teams, promoting innovative solutions and emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency and security
Develop strategies for releasing new compliance policies with minimal disruption to daily work
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of five years’ experience in cloud or hybrid environments, with a strong focus on cloud architecture and governance
Broad AWS experience across multiple services
Deep understanding of enterprise data strategy, governance practices, and stewardship principles along with knowledge in data standards and metadata management
Experience in architecting cloud-based security solutions and familiarity with container-based architectures including Kubernetes
Experience with infrastructure as code languages such as Terraform
Experience with Python and the AWS SDK
Experience with CI/CD pipeline automation tools such as GitHub Actions
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience with Compliance as Code platforms such as Cloud Custodian, Harness, Cloudbolt
Experience with hybrid cloud configurations
Experience in an organization with mature governance practices
Experience in an organization with many AWS accounts
