General Job Statement :
The Senior Accountant handles detailed functions of the Finance Department including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, accounts receivable (AR) and cash receipts, all grant invoicing and collections activities. Additionally, the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of the monthly payroll and benefits tracking and reconciliation. The position also handles employee expense credit cards including tracking expenditures, enforcing procedures and managing the software. Additional duties will include managing the Vendor and Grant contracts databases and onboarding new employees. The position also assists the Director of Finance and Operations with account analyses, ad-hoc reporting, audit support, among other miscellaneous duties. Finally, the Accountant will cross-train with the Staff Accountant.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, the minimum education requirement may be met by having an Associate's degree and an additional seven (7) years of experience as an Accountant.
- Five (5) years of progressive experience in an accounting and finance role with at least two (2) years in a non-profit accounting environment required.
- 2-3 years of previous AP, AR and payroll experience, required.
- Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to manage databases and build and maintain financial models.
- Proficient with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Competency in one or more standard accounting software programs, with NetSuite preferred. Must be able to interact effectively with people of various ages, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
