What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Operations (Spring 2025) position at Northrock Partners, LLC?
Summary
Our competitive internship program attracts top undergraduate students primarily in the Minnesota region interested in gaining invaluable exposure to the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) space. Over the course of a single semester, interns will gain real-world experience and relevant industry knowledge by becoming a key player on the operations team through facilitating critical data analysis and client administration. Interns also get the chance to participate in challenging projects, interact with a variety of industry professionals, and further explore their interests in the field of finance.
Must be located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area as this internship requires an in-office presence at our downtown Minneapolis office location.
Schedule
Part-time, 20 hours per week. Flexible with class schedule.
The Model Intern
The ideal intern seeks every opportunity to learn and is eager to grow professionally. We are looking for someone who believes there is no task below them; someone who is a self-starter, resourceful and can become self-sufficient, providing value quickly.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with Operations Associates to design and implement improved processes and operational policies
- Provide support for the Operations team; opening capacity for the entire firm
- Work closely with the Operations team to prepare Advisors for client meetings
- Submit client paperwork to the firm’s custodian
- Scan and organize client documents
- Opportunity to participate in the rotational study program
Rotational Study
The rotational study course was implemented to give the internship participants exposure to the different career paths here at NorthRock. The intern will get the chance to study key areas of the business and complete a financial plan for a factitious client. The intern will learn the importance of estate planning, tax planning, diversified investments, and professional development. After each rotation the intern will get the chance to sit down with a specialist in the area of study to present their findings.
Required Education & Experience
- Prior internship experience is preferred but not required.
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, finance, or related field as a junior or senior
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Strong interest in finance management, financial planning or investment management
- Polished verbal and written communication
- Exceptional interpersonal skill
- Ability to remain organized while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Solid knowledge of MS Office and the ability to learn specialized systems and software quickly
- Professionalism
- A strong desire to learn and a self-starting attitude
Our Compensation & Benefits
