Description

Position Details

Summary/Objective

The Clinical Standards Manager oversees the clinical training provided to Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, and other clinical support staff in ambulatory settings. This manager is accountable for delivering clinical education to guarantee high-quality patient care is provided across all NorthShore Health Center patients. The manager collaborates closely with the risk management and clinical operations team to ensure the highest quality care is provided in each encounter. The manager consults with a diverse group of stakeholders to identify needs and design educational programming to train staff across NorthShore Health Centers. The Clinical Standards Manager develops, implements, and evaluates training programs related to new employee onboarding, annual competency assessments, clinical professional development, and other topics as required.

Essential Functions

  • Design, deliver, and assess educational programs and practices to provide high-quality, cost-effective clinical training for employees
  • Organize, schedule, and lead education related to new employee orientation, annual education, professional development, and other areas as needed
  • Develop education using evidence from current literature, national benchmarks, professional organizations, and other resources
  • Monitoring clinical practice adherence to standards through data analysis, audits, and performance reviews
  • Conduct regular compliance audits to identify and address potential issues
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and implement correct action plans
  • Train staff and oversee the Vaccines for Children program requirements compliance
  • Address emerging needs, including urgent issues, by collaborating with leadership and developing programming when necessary
  • Provide expert knowledge on staff education principles and practices including healthcare education and professional practice
  • Develop and implement quality improvement activities related to educational programming
  • Participate in organizational procedure and protocol development, supporting consistency and anticipating educational needs
  • Participate in clinical work assignments, as needed, to provide the education perspective and anticipate education needs
  • Create and deliver training documents and presentations
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to create efficiencies across NorthShore Health Centers
  • Participate as a member of various standing committees and workgroups related to the role
  • Perform other assigned duties

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare personnel. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.

Travel

Travel outside of Northshore locations will be rare for this position.

Qualifications


Role Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field.
  • Registered Nurse, Licensed Practice Nurse, CMA, OR RMA
  • 2 years of delivering care as a licensed/registered clinician
  • 2 years as an educator in a clinical setting
     

Preferred Experience Requirements

Two years of experience working within a healthcare setting.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, or healthcare related studies

Preferred Education Requirement

Master's degree in business, leadership, or healthcare related studies.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening/weekend shifts.  Work may include hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
