Position Details
Summary/Objective
The Controller will plan, coordinate, and direct all accounting and payroll operations for all NorthShore locations.
Essential Functions
- Maintains accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Coordinates the preparation of monthly internal financial statements; ensures that the financial statements comply with GAAP, FASB, and GASB principles.
- Assists in the development of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Oversees the annual 990 filing, Medicaid Wrap reports, and annual Medicare cost reporting.
- Ensures proper tracking of Federal, State, Local, and Private Grant expenditures.
- Manage cash flow and asset tracking.
- Prepares specialized management accounting reports as needed.
- Supervise and develop the finance team.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Preferred Experience Requirements
7 years of relevant accounting experience – experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred. Experience in a non-profit setting strongly preferred. Knowledge of GAAP as well as FASB and GASB requirements. 2 years of supervisory experience required.
Minimum Education and Professional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA or CPA candidate required.
Preferred Education Requirement
Master's degree in business, leadership, or healthcare related studies.

Physical Requirements
- This is a stationary position largely performed in an office setting; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
- Must be able to move objects, utilizing abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- The position may occasionally require lifting, up to 10 pounds.
- This position requires adequate manual dexterity, also constant movement and use of limbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Travel outside of NorthShore locations will be rare for this position.
