Position Highlights:
- Position: Medical Assistant / Patient Support Assistant
- Hourly Pay Range: $17.50 - $28.84. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
- Endeavor Health is currently conducting a comprehensive review of our compensation structure. The new minimum for this role will be adjusted to $19.89 base pay hourly rate beginning with May 2025 paychecks.
- Location: Skokie IL
- Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am -5pm
What you will do:
- A dual role that skilled office and clinical support to case management and serve as a liaison between the orthopedic team and patient to coordinate care.
- Prepare patient charts and staff schedules; set up for meetings; arrange clinical and care services; administrative tasks such as faxing, photocopying; making phone calls to communicate with patients, families and other members of the care team.
- Functions as a member of the patient's care management team while delivering exception customer service, ensuring patient safety, privacy and loyalty.
- This role may help answer phones, schedule appointments, and gather general information to register patients.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviews and/or records medical history; confirms purpose of hospitalization.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshoots breakdowns; maintains supplies; performs preventive maintenance and calls for repairs as need-ed.
- Scans patient related documents
- Prepares and faxes referral packets for transfers to Skilled Nursing Facility, Home Health Care agencies, Hospices, Durable Medical Equipment companies and transfers to differing levels of care.
- Assist the department in maintaining requests for community based services; receive and document authorizations requested.
- Receive authorizations/reference codes from insurance companies via phone and fax, document and forward to the assigned registration staff
What you will need:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required. Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, team members, physicians and maintain team-oriented relationships.
- Ability to effectively learn technical skills to perform essential functions within allocated time frame.
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision while exercising attention to details and independent judgment within stated guidelines.
- Ability to maintain high customer service standards.
- Proficient computer skills and the ability to learn and effectively utilize department specific software systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as part of a team.
- Ability and willingness to float between multiple locations when needed
- Certification:CPR certification through the American Heart Association required; Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.
- Experience: One year of work experience required, previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred. On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.
