What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director position at Northside Association for Community Development?
The Northside Association for Community Development (NACD) is a non-profit organization that has placed the needs and aspirations of Northside Neighborhood residents at the center of its organizational strategy since its inception in 1978. NACD's mission is to advocate for and promote a healthier environment, job creation, financial independence, safety, and neighborhood revitalization.
NACD is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan's Northside Neighborhood. Kalamazoo has about 76,000 residents and is highly segregated by race and income, causing barriers to opportunity for Northside residents. To overcome systemic inequities, NACD advocates for and aligns resident voices with public/private/nonprofit partners to alter systems and practices to disrupt how economic development, housing and workforce systems interact. For example, through community engagement, residents identified that a lack of affordable housing and access to good jobs are presenting serious challenges to quality of life. In response to this, NACD is working to build asset wealth by connecting low-income residents of the Northside Neighborhood to affordable housing and by partnering with regional workforce partners to offer accessible job training that leads to industry recognized credentials and good jobs. The goal of these efforts is to create conditions for thriving and stable families.
