Job Title : Algebra 1 Special Education Teacher
Location : Northside Charter High School, Grades 9-12
Position Overview :
Northside Charter High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Algebra 1 Special Education Teacher to join our team. This position involves teaching Algebra 1 to students in grades 9-12, including students with special needs, in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education, a commitment to meeting diverse student needs, and the ability to foster a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities :
Design and implement lesson plans aligned with Algebra 1 curriculum and tailored to meet the needs of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Provide differentiated instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and support personnel to deliver cohesive instruction.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, maintaining accurate records and providing regular feedback to students, parents, and school leadership.
Develop and maintain IEPs for assigned students, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Foster a classroom environment that promotes inclusion, respect, and academic achievement.
Utilize effective classroom management strategies to support student engagement and behavior.
Participate in professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
Communicate effectively with parents / guardians, administrators, and colleagues to support student success.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid state teaching certification in Special Education and / or Mathematics for grades 9-12.
Proven experience teaching Algebra 1 and working with students with special needs.
Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
Ability to utilize technology and other resources to enhance instruction.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Passion for working with high school students and a commitment to their success.
