Position Summary
Northside Charter High School seeks a dedicated and innovative Special Education Humanities Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will provide engaging instruction in English Language Arts and Social Studies while supporting diverse learners through differentiated instruction, individualized accommodations, and inclusive teaching strategies. Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum Delivery
Plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons in humanities, which may include English Language Arts, History, and Social Studies based on expertise and student needs.
Differentiate instruction to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and diverse learning needs.
Foster critical thinking, literacy skills, and historical inquiry through interactive and accessible learning experiences.
Student Support & Engagement
Utilize inclusive and culturally responsive teaching practices to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Develop and implement strategies to support reading comprehension, writing development, and historical analysis for students with varying abilities.
Provide small-group instruction, one-on-one support, and scaffolded learning activities to ensure student success.
Assessment & Individualized Instruction
Administer assessments to evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction based on data and student needs.
Collaborate with the Special Education team to develop and implement IEP goals, progress monitoring, and accommodations / modifications.
Work closely with general education teachers to co-teach or provide push-in / pull-out support as needed.
Classroom Management & Collaboration
Maintain an organized, structured, and student-centered learning environment.
Partner with colleagues to align curriculum, share resources, and participate in professional learning communities (PLCs).
Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, and support staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
QualificationsRequired :
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, English, History, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or ability to obtain certification before the start date).
Experience working with students with disabilities at the secondary level.
Preferred :
Master’s degree in Special Education, Humanities, or a related field.
Experience with co-teaching models, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and assistive technology.
Strong proficiency in integrating technology and multi-modal instructional strategies into the classroom.
