Quality Control Technician

PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

• This hire will fill a quality control technician (Q.C.T.) position that monitors and tests the production of construction aggregates, asphalt concrete, and field installations of those same materials to determine specification compliance and quality assurance (Q.A.).
• This Q.C.T. position will develop asphalt concrete mix designs and implement those designs in the production of asphalt concrete according to the applicable specifications. This Q.C.T. position will develop and submit a quality control plan that establishes the quality guidelines for aggregate and asphalt concrete production to the Ohio Department of Transportation (O.D.O.T) for approval and will apply the approved quality control (Q.C.) plan guidelines in the manufacture and production of construction aggregates and asphalt concrete.
• This Q.C.T. position will be responsible for troubleshooting and correcting nonconforming specification issues with materials production and installation. The quality control technician will communicate the status of material testing conformance to aggregate and asphalt plant production personnel, other Q.C.T. personnel, constructions operations personnel, as well as government agencies and independent testing firm personnel.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicant has an understanding of O.D.O.T., AASHTO, ASTM, and various industry technical association materials testing procedures and a Q.C. plan evaluation of test results as they relate to the applicable aggregate or asphalt concrete specification.
• Applicant has the ability to perform O.D.O.T., AASHTO, ASTM, and various industries technical associations, Q.C. plan requirements, testing procedures and processes, operate the testing machinery required by the applicable testing standard, and complete the reporting of those testing results as they relate to the applicable testing specification standards.
• Applicant has the ability to clearly communicate and document for Q.C. reporting purposes any test results and findings to company and outside agency personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Applicant must have a High School diploma or equivalent as a minimum. Possess advanced degrees or course study in civil or engineering technology, or previous work experiences and necessary skill sets to complete the work functions, O.D.O.T. certifications and/or accreditations that qualify the applicant.
• Applicant must possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. Must have the ability to work independently and to continually develop knowledge and skill from experiences gained by completing the position requirements detailed above.
• Applicant must have reliable transportation to commute to home office locations, job sites, and to complete various tasks and errands. Applicant must be prepared to occasionally work extended hours to complete some job requirements.
• Applicant must have competent literacy and verbal communication skills, including computer proficiency, utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word programs.
• Applicant must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk distances, climb, stoop, crouch, and kneel to complete various elements of work, lift and move 50 pounds or more when necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
