What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Specialist position at Northstar Bank?
Northstar Bank is looking for an Accounts Specialist. This position will work out of our Fort Gratiot location and also travel to other branches as needed.

Status: Non Exempt
Pay Type: Hourly
Education/Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Performance/Job Requirements: Outgoing, friendly, confident, and motivated with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with prospective and current customers with the ability to represent the bank in a positive and professional manner. Ability to multi-task and work independently; significant volume of work that is accurate, thorough and neat; respect for customers, supervisor, and coworkers; maintains and ensures confidentiality; ability to accept and follow instructions; proficient skills in using a calculator and a personal computer; excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Will need to travel to other nearby locations as needed.
Job Functions:
- Open, maintain, manage and close deposit accounts including checking, savings and certificates of deposits for individuals, entities and businesses
- Assist with customer questions and/or issues relating to their accounts demonstrating strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve problems and prevent customer dissatisfaction
- Knowledge of all deposit products and services available at Northstar Bank including lending products such as equity loans, credit cards, and consumer lending
- Explore customer needs and cross sell appropriate products and services to help achieve deposit growth and sales goals for the office
- Identify and make applicable referrals to specialized departments – consumer loan, commercial loan and mortgage loan departments
- Maintain customer and account information within our system in accordance to procedures as required
- Proficiently process and approve transactions within assigned limits, verifying completeness and adherence to policy
- Process IRA distributions and contributions; make necessary updates to plans; beneficiaries, etc.
- Complete and approve ATM/Debit card applications; research transactions, fraud, denials and any other card items as necessary
- Key and initiate wire transactions as requested by customers following set guidelines, limits and procedures; notify customers of incoming wires
- Assist in the dispute process by completing necessary documentation with customers
- Assist customers with transfers (sweeps, AFT and EFT) by completing appropriate documentation and set up of the transfer
- Process stop payment requests
- Process check orders and research any check printing issues as necessary
- Provide eService assistance; Online banking applications, password resets, unlock users, bill pay, eStatements, mobile banking, troubleshooting etc.
- Process transactions through assigned Teller drawer as needed
- Participate in community events and activities while representing the Bank in a positive manner
- Identify and report system-related issues to the Branch Manager
- Consistently meet or exceed goals as set by the Branch Manager
