We are seeking an individual who desires a career in gage calibration. The ideal candidate would have formal training in calibration of dimensional gages, or education and experience with dimensional measurement, including thread and hard gaging expertise, surface plate and height gage measurement, gage blocks, hand tools, universal measuring machines (supermics), etc.
In addition to dimensional, we desire a candidate who can become a "jack-of-all-trades" technician, utilizing strong mechanical aptitudes to learn repairs, torque, pressure, weight & scales, and force calibrations. We may consider training a strong candidate with a good background to fit this.
Northstar Calibration, Inc. is an ISO 17025 accredited commercial calibration laboratory, located in Owatonna, MN. We are growing and we need additional help to serve our customers. Our people contribute directly to satisfying our customers and making our business successful. Work is performed in our accredited laboratory in Owatonna, as well as on-site at our customers' manufacturing locations throughout southern Minnesota and the upper Midwest.
Key Responsibilities:
The Calibration Technician provides gage calibration, repair, & servicing on our customers' gaging and measuring devices, including torque, force, pressure, mass, and dimensional gages. Work includes repairing of dimensional, mechanical, and/or electronic instruments, as well as on-site field service requiring some travel. This position will primarily support our hard gage and dimensional calibrations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
1. Dimensional – thread gaging and hand tools – expertise and experience.
2. Formal calibration training desired, but we will train a candidate with good knowledge base on the methods.
3. Attention to detail and accuracy of work is required.
4. Communication, computer, interaction, planning, & organizing skills.
5. Physical abilities to lift, stand/maneuver, take readings, etc, related to conducting calibration & repair activities, both in the lab and on-site in the field.
6. ASQ Certified Calibration Technician certificate desired.
