What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Portfolio Analyst position at NorthStar Clean Energy?
The Senior Portfolio Analyst monitors, manages, and reports on risks and opportunities related to NorthStar Clean Energy commodity transactions. Transactions might include power and natural gas sales, basis management, renewable energy credits, gas storage, emissions credits, retail positions, and other commodities that NorthStar may participate in in the future. The Senior Portfolio Analyst will also provide recommendations for hedging existing commodity positions and will communicate opportunities as they develop in the market.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software and other tools for monitoring, reporting, and communicating NorthStar Clean Energy Commodity transactions
- Develop and maintain risk management procedures
- Develop and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly risk management and mark to market reporting
- Develop procedures
- Attends market meetings and communicates with market regulators to identify emerging regulatory risks
- Develops and communicates recommendations for hedging existing transactions and market opportunities using products such as basis swaps, futures, and other financial hedging instruments
- Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Ability to convey complex information to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and publishing applications.
- Knowledge of Electric Power operating models.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, and/or Business required
- 4 year's experience with Analytic experience in commodity markets, including but not limited to, transactions related to power, natural gas, basis management, renewable energy credits, gas storage, emissions credits, retail positions, and other commodities. Familiarity with various software tools related to position and risk management.
