Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and passionate Montessori Educators for both Lead and Assistant positions to join our team. As a Montessori Educator at Elements Montessori, you will guide children through their formative years, using Montessori methods to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. Lead Educators will manage the day-to-day operations of the classroom, while Assistant Educators will support the Lead Educator in maintaining the prepared environment and fostering children's development.
Lead Montessori Educator Responsibilities:
- Classroom Management:
Plan, prepare, and manage the Montessori classroom according to Montessori principles, ensuring that the environment is safe, clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate. - Individualized Instruction:
Observe and assess children’s progress, providing individualized learning experiences based on each child’s needs, interests, and learning style. - Curriculum Implementation:
Deliver the Montessori curriculum across a range of subjects, including practical life, sensorial, language, math, cultural subjects, and peace education. - Collaboration:
Collaborate with fellow educators, administration, and parents to ensure children’s success and well-being in both academic and social-emotional development. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of student progress, developmental milestones, and any areas of concern. Prepare progress reports for parent-teacher conferences. - Mentorship:
Guide and mentor the Assistant Montessori Educator and any other support staff in the classroom to ensure consistency and a shared commitment to Montessori principles. - Parent Communication:
Communicate regularly with parents to discuss their child's progress, answer questions, and provide insights on the Montessori approach. - Classroom Culture:
Foster a positive, respectful, and peaceful classroom atmosphere, emphasizing cooperation, self-discipline, and respect for others.
Assistant Montessori Educator Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support:
Assist the Lead Montessori Educator in preparing and maintaining a Montessori-prepared environment, including preparing materials, organizing the classroom, and ensuring cleanliness and safety. - Observation & Guidance:
Observe children’s activities and support them in their learning process without direct interference, ensuring that children maintain independence while receiving appropriate guidance. - Individualized Support:
Work one-on-one with children as needed to assist with lessons, reinforce learning, or provide support with materials and activities. - Classroom Maintenance:
Assist in maintaining the order and cleanliness of the classroom, including setting up workspaces and keeping materials well-organized and accessible to children. - Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with the Lead Educator and other staff to ensure smooth classroom operations and continuity of Montessori principles in daily activities. - Student Supervision:
Supervise students during classroom time, outdoor activities, and transitions to ensure a safe, calm, and positive learning environment. - Communication:
Support the Lead Educator in communicating with parents, ensuring consistent updates and feedback about student progress and classroom activities.
Qualifications:
For Lead Montessori Educator:
- Montessori Certification (AMS, AMI, or MACTE accredited training program) or desire to enroll in the program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Montessori or ECE classroom setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred (3 - 5 years experience)
- Strong knowledge of Montessori philosophy and materials
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
For Assistant Montessori Educator:
- Some experience working in a Montessori or early childhood education setting is preferred (minimum of 2 years experience)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or ECE coursework preferred
- A passion for Montessori education and working with young children
- Ability to take direction, work collaboratively, and maintain a positive and respectful environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children
