What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Program Manager position at NorthStar Special Services, Inc?
I. PURPOSE/RATIONALE
This is a full- time salary exempt position supervised by the Director. The overall purpose of this position is to assure that we provide a safe and homelike environment, the implementation and delivery of the services and supports designated in clients’ Individual Plans and to assure that clients’ fundamental rights are not compromised.
II. REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
This position requires at a minimum a high school diploma or GED certificate and at least 2 years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals. In addition, 2 years of supervisory experience.
This position requires successful completion all DDA required training
III. REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to interact positively with individuals, co-workers, community residents, family, advocates, and Agency staff.
Ability to provide direction and leadership to subordinate staff
Ability to develop and train staff and build relationships
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner and listen attentively to others
Ability to provide instruction, training, and support to developmentally disabled individuals.
IV. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
A) General
Supervises the daily routines of multiple residence in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, environmental, fiscal, and medical requirements, individuals' treatment regimens and ensuring that appropriate documentation is completed as scheduled in the I Care System.
Responds to crisis situations expediently and provides the appropriate input and support needed to resolve the situation
B. Specific
1. Provides support and assistance to the IP Coordinator in identifying clients’ values and needs.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of assigned individuals’ goals, Goal Plans, supplemental procedures and Behavior Plans and assures they are implemented as written, including training the Residential Counselors in the implementation of the PCP, ongoing monitoring of implementation and re-training of Residential Counselors as needed.
3. Provides supervision and supports needed to assure that each residence presents a clean, neat and safe environment; this includes, but is not limited to, assuring that the residence will pass safety and environmental inspections.
4. Providing oversight to a minimum of 5 or 6 ALU units.
5. Provides Lead staff and Residential Counselors with consistent supervision and support throughout their shifts; this includes, but is not limited to, providing client supervision in the residence until correct staffing ratios are attained and adjusts his/her schedule to meet the needs of the unit.
6. Ensure staff for which they oversee are adhering to Covid -19 preventative measures.
7. Provides each Lead Staff and residential counselor with the support, direction, supervision, and follow- up needed to ensure that their clients acquire appropriate community integration skills. This includes, but is not limited to, assuring the clients’ participation in appropriate community -based leisure and social activities, encouraging communication with family and friends, encouraging, and assisting individuals in developing and utilizing effective self-determination and self-advocacy skills and encouraging, and supporting individuals as they work to have successful integration into the community.
8. Provides supervision and support to Lead staff and Residential Counselors during any transitions such as Emergency room visits, residential moves, etc.
9. Assures company transportation is available to clients as needed and ensures that their individuals are trained on using public transportation as needed.
10. Ensures that the Lead staff and Residential Counselors are familiar with the events calendar in I Care and ensure that the schedule is adhered to for each individual.
11. Assures that individuals participate in all required/scheduled meetings, appointments, and daily activities as scheduled.
12. Attends and participates in annual and interim Interdisciplinary Team Meetings as directed and attends and participates in all in-service training as scheduled.
13. Immediately reports incidents according to Agency policy for Incident Reporting and Investigation Procedures. Is available to participate in the investigation of incidents as required. Ensures all incidents are completed in I Care before the end of staff shifts.
14. Provides direction and support to staff during emergencies such as callouts and ensures the unit is properly covered to always meet the needs of the individuals.
15. Assures that appropriate follow up/corrective action is taken in response to problems or deficiencies identified during Program Observations and records Audits as appropriate.
