High School Mathematics Teacher
Job Summary:
The Secondary Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality mathematics instruction to students in grades 9-12. This role requires a deep understanding of mathematics curriculum, effective teaching strategies, and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to ensure student success and contribute to a positive school culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Mathematics (EX or equivalent).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Mathematics Standards and best practices in mathematics education.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to use technology effectively in the classroom.
- Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mathematics Education or a related field.
- Experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level.
- Experience with Advanced Placement mathematics or a willingness to learn AP coursework.
- Experience with data-driven instruction and assessment.
- Experience with educational technology platforms such as Canvas, Google, and/or Synergy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Delivery:
- Develop and implement engaging and rigorous lesson plans aligned with the Michigan Mathematics Standards and school curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
- Employ technology effectively to enhance learning and provide students with access to digital resources.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and minimize disruptions.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect among students.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum, share best practices, and support student success.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Attend staff meetings, and participate in school wide events.
- Student Support:
- Provide individualized support to students who are struggling or need additional assistance.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs and English language learners.
- Monitor student attendance and behavior, and implement appropriate interventions as needed.
- Provide extra curricular support to students as needed, such as tutoring, or math club support.
