Position Overview: As a Medical Billing Specialist at Northwest ABA, you will be an essential part of a small, cohesive team of therapists and supervisors working in our clinic. This is not a remote position. You will be required to work in the office a few days a week, where your contributions will directly support the care and services we provide to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Billing:
- Verify patients' insurance coverage.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies, both electronically and by paper.
- Address inquiries from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
- Review and resolve unpaid and denied claims promptly.
- Manage collections on unpaid accounts and oversee Accounts Receivable reports.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.
- Submit pre-authorization requests to insurance companies and track their due dates.
Payroll:
- Process payroll based on detailed reports.
- Ensure the accuracy of clinical records.
- Manage patient and employee information using QuickBooks and other practice management software.
- Handle employee benefits, including retirement and health insurance.
Other Duties:
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing.
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
- Knowledge of medical terminology used in claims.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
- Understanding of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements.
- Strong customer service skills for interacting with patients and families of diverse backgrounds.
- Effective communication skills for resolving issues with insurance payers.
- Ability to handle critical conversations and resolve conflicts professionally.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Efficiency in accomplishing tasks quickly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in ABA billing.
- Proficiency with Central Reach billing software.
- Medical billing certification.
