What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning Coordinator position at Northwest Arctic Borough?
DUTIES:
- Assists Borough Administration and Planning Department in day to day operations and functions including staffing needs.
- Assist the Planning Director to prepare Planning Commission meetings and personnel needs to execute the Borough's Platting Authority
- Review, monitor and regulate the Borough's Land Use Code as well as State and Federal Land Use Regulations
- Perform land management field activities within the Northwest Arctic Borough (NAB) Boundaries
- Build Arc/GIS Mapping Capacity
- Coordinate with NANA, the North Slope Borough, Seward Peninsula and Interior Alaska on Guide/Transporter issues
- Participate and network with climate change issues including but not limited to flood damage and insurance, erosion control with local, state, federal and international agencies
- Assist in the implementation/oversight of resource management projects within the NAB
- Assist in the preparation of permit applications as needed
- Participate and implement the Planning Department Strategic Plan
- Prepare comprehensive reports for the Planning Commission and Assembly as needed
- Network with Land Management Agencies at the local, state and federal level
- Present environmental programs for public information and outreach
- Attend meetings related to subsistence, environment, language or other issues affecting the NAB
- Coordinate public meetings and public hearings as needed
- Ability to travel as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
