In collaboration with the Fire Chief, the Firefighter will provide aircraft rescue and firefighting, and emergency medical care to the Northwest Arkansas National Airport.
This job performs ARFF and structural firefighting, EMS and HAZMAT responses. Key responsibilities include:
- Respond to all airport emergencies or requests for assistance. This may include, but not limited to, aircraft emergencies, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, structural incidents, motor vehicle accidents, law enforcement and security incidents.
- Enforce all Arkansas State statutes and Airport regulations and ordinances. Enforces provisions of the airport security program.
- Provide EMS commiserate to the level of EMT-B, remove victims of all body weights to a safe environment by any means necessary (within limits of personal safety).
- Drive and operate all ARFF vehicles and all associated equipment such rescue saws, jaws of life, pac hammer, SCBA, Thermal imager, and Automatic External Difibulator.
- Clean and service all ARFF vehicles and conduct daily inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform inspections of airport structures, aircraft, and fueling facilities this will include pre fire planning.
- Perform perimeter checks ensuring that no unauthorized persons or animals have gained access to the airfield.
- Maintain acceptable conditions in the living, dining, work, garage, and outside areas of the fire station.
- Conduct first aid and fire extinguisher training.
- Maintain training proficiency as required by FAR Part 139. All other certifications will also be maintained.
Successful candidates will have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- IFSAC, DOD Firefighter II or AFA Firefighter III
- Arkansas or National Registry EMT-B
- Arkansas Certified Firefighter.
