POSITION: Behavioral Health Technician/Activity Specialist (Part Time)
Social Rehabilitative Services
JOB SCOPE: Coordinates and implement activities of the Social Rehabilitative Program. Provide direct behavioral health treatment and community-based care services to clients on a daily basis. Evaluates and coordinate recreational, vocational, and educational services for program participants.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate, some college preferred but not necessary. Training and experience in mental health desired. Must possess or acquire a Florida Behavioral Health Technician Certification within the first (1st) year of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinate/Facilitate skill building activities for Social Rehabilitative clients.
2. Submit individual client progress notes on a daily basis.
3. Plan, Implement, Evaluate, and Monitor Treatment Activities and Groups.
4. Help with educating clients about the functions of Daily Living Skills such as eating, bathing, and grooming.
5. Provides direct clinical and community-based care services to clients/consumers as needed including assessments, treatment planning, peer support guidance, social rehabilitative guidance, social recreation, etc.
6. Collect and Record data on client’s behavior.
7. Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients.
8. Provide general assistance to clients within a community placement setting, including support to increase independent living skills.
9. Utilize crisis training when necessary to maintain the safety of clients and coworkers.
10. Supervise the client’s interaction in group setting with peers.
11. Complete documentation input in the agency’s EHR System.
12. Maintains accurate and complete clinical records.
13. Provide mental health consultation and education to staff, family members, and significant others as requested.
14. Attend and assist with staff meetings and clinical staffing.
15. Participate in continuing education.
16. Conduct one’s self as a role model and maintain program professionalism.
17. Ensure timely completion of reports, documentation.
18. Plan activities and complete a monthly activity calendar.
19. Complete and obtain State of Florida Certification CBHT within one year of employment.
20. Perform all other duties as required.
21. Attend individual supervision, staff meetings, required agency training, and other meetings as requested and appropriate.
22. If at any time, the Behavioral Health Technician is aware of or suspects that abuse or neglect has occurred, as defined in Section 415.504 F.S., the Behavioral Health Technician is required to immediately report such known or suspected abuse of neglect to Florida Department of Children and Families via the Florida Protective Services System at 1-800-92-2873. Failure to do so shall be grounds for disciplinary action and may result in termination of employment.
23. Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal standards.
24. Comply with Civil Rights procedures, including but not limited to, ensuring that all clients are notified of client grievance procedures, advising the client of the right to appeal a denial or exclusion from the program, or failure to take account of a client’s choice of service and their right to a fair hearing to the final governing authority of the agency.
