Description
Part-Time
As needed on: Wednesday evenings 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM | Sunday mornings 8:30 AM - 12 PM | occasional special events as needed.
- Minister to our special-needs children in a classroom setting, including teaching, guiding and comforting them. Ages range from birth - 5th grade.
- Actively pursue chances to assist with transitions, challenging behaviors and extra duties with a positive attitude.
- Provide prompt and professional care for children’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, per the developmental level of the child, maintaining a safe, positive, loving, and nurturing environment for children.
- Teach the provided Bible curriculum, worship songs, and related activities.
- Assist with leading, organizing and directing the children through each routine activity.
- Gives instruction to children regarding behavior and safety.
- Recommends or initiates measures to modify behavior in children.
- Performs housekeeping duties in classroom, such as cleaning and sanitizing toys, supplies, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
As a religious organization, all employees must affirm and adhere to the Church’s Doctrinal Statement of Faith and Statement on Marriage and Human Sexuality based upon its sincerely held religious beliefs, to qualify for involvement with the ministry. This is necessary to accomplish the Church’s religious mission, goals, and purpose.
- Exhibit a growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and as Lord and agree with the doctrinal statement of Northwest Bible Church.
- Previous experience working with special needs children preferred.
- Professional Certifications/Education related to Special Education protocols is preferred.
- Specific ABA experience is a plus.
- Have a joyful passion for children and genuine interest in caring for them.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with a teaching partner and team.
- Ability to be flexible.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Able to lift 40 pounds without assistance.
- Able to perform physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, standing, lifting, carrying, and moving quickly.
