The NWBCCC is a 50-year old grassroots member-led organization that unites individuals and institutions for racial justice and economic democracy through intergenerational organizing to transform the Bronx and beyond.  We organize around health, housing, education, environmental justice, community and economic development and other issues impacting our communities.

As NWBCCC expands our organizing borough-wide, we seek a dynamic Bronx-wide Community Organizer to lead outreach, base-building, and leadership development efforts across neighborhoods and institutions. This position will work in collaboration with organizers across campaigns to recruit and engage new members, expand our organizing base, and mobilize Bronx residents around NWBCCC’s campaigns. 

Bronx-wide Community Organizer Position

The Bronx-wide Community Organizer will lead NWBCCC’s expansion across the Bronx, ensuring that more neighborhoods, partner institutions, and residents are engaged in our organizing efforts. The organizer’s main responsibilities will be to: 

• Expand NWBCCC’s base by conducting outreach across the Bronx, recruiting new members from faith institutions, community and labor organizations, and residents across various housing developments.
• Support borough-wide mobilization efforts to advance NWBCCC’s organizing campaigns.
• Coordinate Bronx-wide events that increase visibility, activate members, and connect residents to our work.
• Develop grassroots leaders through strategic one-on-one outreach and leadership development.
• Engage the public through canvassing, phone banking, tabling, and direct communication.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of community organizing experience in grassroots, labor, tenant or movement-based organizing
• Strong commitment to racial and economic justice and community-led solutions
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and facilitation skills
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
• Experience leading public engagement efforts, such as canvassing, phonebanking or event organizing
• Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• This is a 100% in-person position; the organizer must be physically present in the Bronx to conduct outreach, build relationships, and mobilize community members.
• Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred

Compensation: $50,000-$65,000, based on organizing experience. Excellent benefits, including health and life insurance, tax-sheltered retirement plan, and vacation. Excellent professional development in community organizing and related fields.
