What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Youth Mentor position at Northwest Children's Home?
RESPONSIBILITES
The Youth Mentor is responsible for providing support to residents of the agency. This position is to maintain continuity in the daily schedule and assure safety of residents at all times. It is the expectation that communication between the treatment team is effective and efficient and all required documentation is completed accurately and within a timely manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Have one year of experience working directly with children.
- Two years of social services education may be substituted for the required experience
- Able to pass required Background Checks.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to provide verification.
- Able to complete and maintain all training requirements per agency policy and procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Social Work related field.
- Valid state issued driver’s license.
- Paid experience working with children and/or youth in a group treatment orientation.
- Possess the skills and ability to work successfully with the special needs of children in care.
- Demonstrate effective communication and problem solving skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization.
- Ability to learn and operate required agency software and technology.
