Job Summary
The Transportation Coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordinating transportation operations, including scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and logistical problem-solving. This role ensures timely and safe transportation for athletic events, field trips, and other school related activities while effectively communicating with drivers, faculty, and staff.
Job Responsibilities
Scheduling & Logistics
- Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation requests and concerns.
- Coordinate and manage transportation for all athletic, field and other school related trips, ensuring timely arrivals and departures by working closely with athletic director, staff and coaches to accommodate needs.
- Assign routes and trips, ensuring drivers are informed of their schedules.
- Communicate with involved parties via email, text, or phone for necessary scheduling and logistics information.
- Distribute fuel cards and keys to drivers as needed, ensuring cards and keys are returned promptly after use.
Supervision & Management
- Oversee and manage bus and van drivers to ensure compliance with schedules and safety protocols.
- Monitor driver performance, address concerns, and provide guidance or corrective actions as needed.
- Provide support drivers in managing student disciplinary issues and collaborate with administrators to develop and implement student corrective action plans.
- Facilitate the hiring and training for new bus and van new drivers.
- Ensure drivers follow all safety regulations, policies, and vehicle maintenance guidelines.
Maintenance & Fleet Management
- Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, routes, and expenses.
- Address transportation-related issues such as delays, damage, or discrepancies.
- Maintain a comprehensive schedule for vehicle service, inspections and repairs.
Compliance & Safety
- Document and report any transportation incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, licensing and vehicle registration requirements.
- Complete all DOT filings and reports
- Process driver screenings annually and follow up as necessary.
Education
- High school diploma; associate’s degree preferred
Experience
- Prior experience in transportation coordination, logistics, or fleet management preferred.
- Familiarity with school or athletic event transportation is beneficial
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.

- Proactive approach to minimize delays and disruptions
- Ability to plan and adapt routes based on changing conditions
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and compliance requirements
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
