JOB SUMMARY
Develops commercial lending prospects. Originates and services commercial loans of all types and provides continuing financial counseling to customers in conformance with established Bank objectives, policies and procedures.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and the community in which it serves.
Carries out ongoing business development programs to promote the Bank's lending services. Calls on prospective and existing clients and fields Retail referrals to nurture ongoing relationships and to market and cross sell other Bank services.
Interviews applicants for commercial and other loans, conducts or
coordinates analysis of credit information, and approves loans within lending
authority.
Serves as Account Officer for assigned and originated loans. Maintains up-
to-date records of transactions in conformance with loan policies and
provides continuing financial counseling to customers.
Participates in planning and goal setting for the lending division. Provides
reporting of lending activity, Call reports and other miscellaneous activity.
Develops new business relationships.
Mentors and advises Branch Managers on lending and business development
issues.
Conducts joint calls with Branch Managers. Works in conjunction with
Branch Managers on prospective and existing clients to promote a wide range
of Bank services.
Keeps abreast of regulatory and competitive developments within the area of
commercial lending. Interfaces with Bank management on product
development and demand matters. Serves as a resource on complex loan
situations.
Represents the Bank through participation in various community and industry
related activities. Actively promotes interest in the Bank whenever and
wherever possible. Actively participates in the Bank’s Officer Call Program.
Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulations and compliance
guidelines.
Daily review, approval and disposition of overdrafts.
Prepare various reports, including pipeline, commercial loan tracking and community involvement and business development.
Annually update customer financial information.
Attends relevant seminars and courses to update and advance knowledge and skills.
Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent plus specialized training in lending, credit or related subjects. Five plus years of formal credit and SBA experience. Solid business development experience. Able to analyze financial statements. Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong sales ability and negotiation skills. Must be able to work off-bank hours. Must be able to travel within assigned territory.
INITIATIVE
Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with manager where clarification or exception to Bank policy may be required.
RESPONSIBILITY
Typical errors could be incorrect data entry on borrower’s accounts. Errors are generally easily detected and corrected. May have minor adverse external effects. This position has access to all customer loan information through the loan documentation process and system information. Regular interdepartmental or external business contacts, furnishing or obtaining information; requires tact and courtesy.
