Position Overview:
The Mental Health Counselor plays a crucial role in enhancing the mental health and overall well-being of individuals, couples, families, or groups. Employing a diverse array of techniques and approaches, counselors are dedicated to guiding their clients through emotional, behavioral, or relationship challenges. In addition to counseling, they extend their support to include comprehensive case management, advocacy, and care coordination, ensuring personalized assistance for each person or family within their caseload.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective treatment services to individuals of all ages, addressing emotional and behavioral concerns using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches to care.
- Provide comprehensive counseling services, including individual, couples, family, and group therapy, as well as case management, advocacy, and care coordination, in accordance with agency policies.
- Employ a diverse range of therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, to support individuals with emotional or psychological challenges.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, gain self-awareness, and develop effective coping strategies for life's challenges.
- Play a pivotal role in assisting individuals through immediate and long-term issues, with the ultimate aim of fostering positive life changes.
Qualifications :
- Master's or doctoral degree in the Behavioral Health Field, such as counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Fulfill or meet certification requirements for a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of evidence-based practices approved by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) for Outpatient Behavioral Health Treatment programs.
- Exhibit adherence to the ethical guidelines and standards set forth by the licensing/credentialing board or relevant professional counseling associations (e.g., American Counseling Association).
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug testing prior to employment start date.
