For full job description, please visit nwesd.org/jobsSummary: The Migrant Out-of-School Youth (OSY)/Health Coordinator, part of the OSPI Migrant Education Program (MEP), serves migrant students and their families across Western Washington. This regional role focuses on: • Helping migratory students and out-of-school youth address health issues that impact their ability to succeed in school or other educational programs.• Connecting them with regional resources and services to meet their health and educational needs.• Tackling specific health challenges that affect their participation in learning activities.• Providing access to academic support to complete high school (or equivalent) and pursue higher education opportunities. 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 215 days per yearWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements: Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, frequent travel will be required within the NWESD region. Extended or flexible hours may be necessary. Lifts and carries a maximum of 40 pounds. Sitting for extended periods may be required. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.Hazards: Those present in a normal office environment. Routine travel may pose potential hazards including driving in inclement weather.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the Behavioral Sciences, Biology, Social Services, Nutrition, Health Education, or a closely-related field. Minimum of one-year experience working with migrant students and families or community services. Bilingual (English/Spanish), with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with teachers and parents. Valid Washington State driver’s license. Driver’s liability insurance (Washington State minimum).WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance required.
