What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Coordinator/Medical Assistant position at Northwest Endometriosis and Pelvic Surgery?
Northwest Endometriosis and Pelvic Surgery(NWEPS) is looking for a full time patient care coordinator with some medical assisting duties to work in our practice.
NWEPS is a gynecologic surgery practice focused on the care of women with endometriosis and other complex gynecologic surgery conditions. Staffed by Drs Nicholas Fogelson and Shanti Mohling, both nationally / internationally recognized physicians in the areas of endometriosis and pelvic pain surgery, NWEPS serves patients from the Pacific Northwest as well as throughout the country and international.
The primary role of this position is to serve as medical assistant to Dr Fogelson, with secondary role to help with overflow from other physicians.
Job duties will include scheduling surgeries, scanning documents into EMR system, rooming patients, taking patient vitals, accompanying doctors into exams, and many other tasks that may be required. The successful applicant will have experience with insurance verification and authorizations, patient communication, such as; taking patient phone calls / scheduling appointments. Employee will also take payments from patients and post on daily income sheets. Basic computer skills such as use of a word processor, email system, etc is a must. We use Apple computers in the office.
NWEPS is a high service low volume practice, where we will likely see 10 or fewer new patients per week, most of which will schedule surgery. The successful applicant will have outstanding people skills, be friendly and outgoing, representing not only themselves but the entire brand of the practice to our patients. We are a small office and need an employee who is excited to expand their capabilities and skills to meet the needs of the practice. Flexibility is key, as effectively the role is to be the administrative and clinical assistant to one physician.
Our patient population is primarily made up of women with endometriosis and other complex pelvic pain conditions. While we see relatively few patients compared to some practices, most cases require many points of contact with patient, hospital, insurer, and physician. The work is very rewarding in that our patients generally are very appreciative of what we do, including to the front desk staff.
The practice is based in our beautiful office in downtown Portland.
Pay will be commensurate with experience. Benefits are negotiable depending on experience / needs. We are committed to finding a partner / employee that wants to have a long term relationship with a practice, a rewarding career, and will pay appropriately for that for the right candidate.
We offer fully paid and excellent health benefits at 3 months of service, and 401k contribution after one year of service. Profit sharing is also available and vests over three years of service, contributed to employee 401k.
We do not have onsite parking for employees, we recommend public transport coming and going to work. There are local monthly fee garages. We offer a monthly parking/transit subsidy to reduce the costs of parking and/or transportation.
