Job Overview
NWEP is an equine veterinary practice located in Mulino, Oregon about 30 minutes south of Portland. The practice is a busy, sports medicine focused clinic with three full-time veterinarians who see horses in-clinic and out on farm calls. NWEP is unique because we focus exclusively on lameness and diagnostics. We perform a lot of advanced imaging including nuclear scintigraphy and standing MRI. The clinic is also at the forefront of using and developing regenerative medicine options in horses.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests, including X-rays and laboratory work.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Computer entry of billing and medical notes into EzyVet.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic.
- Maintain cleanliness in the facility.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for both animals and staff.
- Assist in advanced imaging diagnostics (MRI & bone scan) pending training.
- Computer entry of billing and medical notes into EzyVet.
Qualifications
- Must be a Certified Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Oregon.
- Proficient equine knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience with X-ray equipment and diagnostic tools is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and team members. Work in a team setting where taking initiative and responsibility are valued.
- Significant experience handling and managing horses.
- Provide technical support to veterinarians for lameness exams, diagnostics and treatments.
- Needs to be able to jog horses and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Current driver’s license.
- Daily patient care; cleaning stalls, watering, feeding, hand walking and medicating. While most of our horses are here for clinic appointments, there are times when we have horses overnight and on weekends. Weekends are shared on a rotating schedule.

Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
