The CRNA is the primary provider of anesthesia care, working in collaboration with the surgeons to deliver anesthesia and sedation for surgical procedures. Cares for patients before, during, and aftersurgery by performing a patient assessment, preparing the patient for anesthesia, administering anesthesia, and maintaining anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management. Monitors patients and modifies anesthetic dosage for maximum patient safety and comfort. Responsible for following all Governing Policies as well as ASC Policies and Procedures. The CRNA is also responsible for maintaining a safe environment with appropriate equipment and medication to ensure the highest quality and delivery of patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform the pre-anesthesia evaluation.
- Order appropriate pre-anesthetic medications.
- Document a discussion of the anesthesia plan and risks with the patient.
- Maintain anesthesia at the required levels.
- Ensure all emergency equipment is in proper working order.
- Administer anesthesia for any surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures performed.
- Provide professional observations and resuscitative care until the patient has regained control of their vital functions, including the ordering of medications necessary in the recovery period.
- Perform the post-anesthetic evaluation.
- The overall medical care of the patients remains the responsibility of the surgeon when a CRNA administers an anesthetic; however, the CRNA remains responsible for the anesthetic.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Maintains appropriate education, certifications, licensure, and training
- Follows company anesthesia billing requirements and documentation guidelines.
- Fully compliant with company Governing policies, ASC policy, and procedures.
- Participates in the Company’s mandatory education and in-services.
- Completes regulatory documentation accurately and promptly.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and safe positioning of patients for those procedures.

Education and Experience:
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) shall be licensed as registered nurses and certified as nurse anesthetists by the WA State Board of Nursing.
- Hold current license from the State Board of Nursing to practice.
