GENERAL SUMMARY :
Designs and conducts educational programs for nursing staff; coordinates orientation programs for new staff members, develops programs to keep existing staff up-to-date, and acts as general resource for nursing personnel; designs and implements programs to improve performance, efficiency, and customer service; plans programs that promote good will and fosters relationships with the community.
Education :
Associates degree from an accredited college or university required; a bachelor’s degree in nursing (e.g. BSN) preferred.
Experience :
Required minimum of three (3) years of experience in a clinical nursing and / or educational field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, targets, and objectives
Licenses, Certifications and / or Registrations :
Certification as a registered nurse (RN)
Specialized Knowledge and Skills :
Exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service skills; familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures; perform a variety of tasks; education and direct others.
Job Responsibilities :
Responsible for assessing the organization’s nursing practice and its impact on patient outcomes; provides clinical direction to nursing staff in the delivery of patient care programs; ensures nursing staff maintains an established level of clinical competency.
Designs and implements programs, policies, and practices to ensure that all nursing departments are in compliance with The Joint Commission , HIPPA, and accreditation standards; maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements; tracks laws and regulations that might affect the organization's policies and procedures; prepares compliance reports to present to senior management.
Develops and implements various activities to improve overall quality of nursing care within the organization. Participates in and serves as a resource to quality improvement committees; tracks and analyzes trends and outcome reports and advises management on areas to improve upon.
Ensures that patients' needs are met and evaluates nursing care and performance; develops and administers programs and procedures that provide a high level of quality care and customer service for patients and their families; acts as liaison between patients and other health care service providers.
Monitors and provides assistance with quality assurance and compliance functions; provides consultation and direction to ensure programs and services are implemented at the highest standards and patients receive the highest level of care; ensures policies and procedures are monitored and updated to include regulatory changes.
Act as in internal resource for questions regarding patient care; ensures that clinical staff is caring for patients appropriately.
Evaluates patient records for appropriateness of charges; reviews medical records for accuracy and completeness; develop programs to enhance nursing education and training.
Responsible for ensuring that competency for nursing personnel are complete. Propose and initiate training for competencies not met.
Researches and develops training programs for the organization; develops methods and materials for training staff and may prepare curriculums including lectures, ideas for group discussions, demonstrations, and workshops; evaluates training delivery, measures results, and recommends program changes; must stay abreast of new training methods and determine relevancy to organization’s associates.
Must be flexible and willing to provide training at non-traditional times to positively impact training and patient care.
Directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate organizational development programs, policies, and procedures; develops training programs, facilitates implementation of appropriate change management initiatives, and reviews current development programs to ensure adherence to organizational goals.
Plans and directs new training techniques and suggests enhancements to existing training programs. Utilize physician medical staff / practitioners to provide training in clinical areas, building a cohesive attitude between physicians and staff.
Responsible for clerical and administrative duties related to training and organizational development. Schedules training events, hires instructors, obtains instructional materials, and ensures associates are kept abreast of training requirements
