While headquartered in Quincy, this is a hybrid remote position that covers two counties.

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Fatherhood Peer Specialist is an active member of the child welfare team and provides peer support services to fathers including those with substance misuse and co-occurring mental health challenges. Conducts outreach to jails, to the broader community, and provides education and ongoing peer support. This position is a grant- funded position with initial funding being provided for a period of two (2) fiscal years. Funding for subsequent years may become available based upon program goal achievement and funding source availability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Serve as a Recovery Ambassador, by promoting positive recovery message and services of NWF Health Network.

· Effectively communicate individualized resources, supports and services to fathers as they request this information and other support systems of those persons.

· Assist fathers in articulating personal goals for recovery.

· Work with fathers individually and in group:

· Assist fathers with problem solving techniques and other essential life skills.

· Assist fathers in their recovery process by engaging them in meaningful dialogues.

· Assist fathers in working with their child welfare case manager and/or treatment team in determining the steps necessary to achieving their own reunification and recovery goals.

· Share lived experience of any child welfare or substance use and co-occurring mental health recovery.

· Confidence in own wellness.

· Passion and enthusiasm for peer support and the belief that recovery is possible.

· Acts as an advocate for effective reunification and recovery-based services.

· Understand the importance of working as a team with other professionals to assist in providing the best care possible for the father.

· Comply with all organization policies and procedures.

· Participate in ongoing recovery training, education and performance support.

· Maintain and submit accurate documentation on father’s progress as per policy and procedures.

· Attend staff meetings and participate in internal training programs as requested.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license with agency acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum 2 years personal recovery experience regarding mental illness/substance abuse and willing to talk to others about their experience. (Child welfare experience preferred)
  • Has experience in formal work and /or volunteer experience related to mental health/substance abuse.
  • Certification: Certified Recovery Support Specialist and/or Certified Recovery Peer Specialist by the Florida Certification Board (If certification is not achieved prior to being hired, you will have 1 year from hire date to complete and submit to HR)

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people from diverse cultural, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and persuasively express self verbally and in writing, using correct language and grammar in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful manner.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries and limits with fathers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, planning, scheduling and organizing professional schedule to complete actions within established deadlines and handling multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 per year
