What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Academy, Adjunct - Northwest Florida State College position at Northwest Florida State College?
Adjunct (part-time) instructors are hired on an as-needed, term-by-term (or per course) basis. By applying for this position, you will be joining the part-time instructional pool for consideration as a prospective adjunct instructor.
The Adjunct Instructor is directly accountable to the Public Safety Training Center Director for the following duties and responsibilities.
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carryout its mission.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide classroom and fire lab instruction.
- Utilize the approved textbook and/or other instructional materials as approved.
- Be fully prepared and on time.
- Utilize and maintain available training equipment.
- Maintain attendance per Public Safety Training Center and college policies and procedures.
- Support students by engaging them in class, answering questions in a timely manner, and referring them for additional support when necessary.
- Be familiar with and abide by Public Safety Training Center and college policies.
- Assist in development of curriculum as appropriate.
- Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Public Safety Training Center Director.
Job Requirements:
- Current Florida State Bureau of Fire Standards Instructor Certification and six (6) years of experience as a regular member of an organized fire department.
- Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency with teaching technologies.
- Experience in student engagement techniques preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
