Job Summary
The Supervisor, Admissions is responsible for the supervision of the registration staff and day-to-day coordination of the department. This role provides informational support and evaluation of regulations, procedures or practices of the registration associates. Responsible for coordinating the quality assurance program. Manages employee work schedule. Coordinates clerical functions associated with the department. Represents the facility as the focal point for all initial communication.
Essential Functions
- Supervises and manages admissions staff, including admissions coordinators and clerks, ensuring proper performance and adherence to department procedures.
- Provides ongoing training and development to the admissions team, enhancing staff skills and knowledge.
- Ensure team members follow best practices for handling patient data and providing excellent customer service.
- Ensures effective communication between the admissions department and other departments to facilitate a seamless patient experience.
- Works closely with clinical staff, including physicians, nurses, and care teams, to ensure smooth patient admissions and accurate communication.
- Oversees the intake and registration process for patients, ensuring timely and accurate collection of all necessary information.
- Resolves specifics problems related to registration, insurance verification and collections.
- Addresses patient complaints and concerns in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring resolution in a timely manner.
- Successfully obtains co-payments for services rendered or to be rendered.
- Refers uninsured and underinsured patients to the financial counselor for assistance.
- Accurately obtains all required information to perform registration of patients for all services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred or
- Technical School in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- 2-4 years registration/insurance verification experience in an acute care or specialty hospital setting required
- 2-4 years of experience in a healthcare admissions or patient services role required
- 0-1 years One year supervisory experience in an acute care or specialty hospital registration/insurance verification setting preferred

- High level of proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, registration software, and Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare privacy standards.
