Location: HOAP Day Center | 694 Church St. NE Salem OR 97301
Job Status: Full-time,
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
Are you someone who thrives in a front-facing, people-centered role and loves connecting individuals to vital community resources? The HOAP Day Center is seeking a Services Support Specialist to be the welcoming face and steady presence for guests navigating homelessness and other life challenges.
YOUR ROLE:
As the first and last point of contact at the HOAP Day Center, the Services Support Specialist plays a key role in setting a tone of dignity, respect, and compassion. You’ll greet all visitors, provide information, and ensure guests feel supported while accessing the center’s services. Your ability to connect clients to both Northwest Human Services (NWHS) programs and community partner resources will help meet basic needs and address broader Social Determinants of Health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum two years’ work, volunteer, or lived experience within a human service-related environment and/or associate’s degree in public health, psychology, social work, mental health, behavioral sciences, or related field.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations in mental health, substance treatment, or medical care setting, is strongly preferred.
- Possesses intrinsic abilities (e.g., listening, caring, and value human connection) and can communicate with compassion and empathy.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with strong follow-through.
- Experience in motivational interviewing, conflict resolution and de-escalation, is strongly preferred.
- English/Spanish preferred.
