Primary Purpose:
Develop a model program for the Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Design and Fabrication, Floral Design and Veterinary Medicine career pathways/programs throughout the district. Provide leadership and support to Agricultural Science teachers to enhance the quality of the programs provided.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Texas Teacher’s certificate required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Principal certification preferred
Specific Knowledge and Skills
- Effective Communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of local, state and national curriculum standards
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness

- Strong technology knowledge and skills
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of successful career and technical education teaching experience
- Minimum of 5 years successful implementation of Ag & FFA programming
- Educational leadership preferred
- Industry experience or credentials a plus
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide leadership for the integration of career information across the K-12 curriculum as well as the integration of core academics within the career and technical education curriculum.
- Ensure the program of study curriculum is developed with employer input to prepare students for both further education and in-demand and emerging careers.
- Promote the CTE programs to all potential participants and, as appropriate, their parents/guardians, in a manner that is free from bias, inclusive and non-discriminatory.
- Ensure comprehensive career development is coordinated and sequenced to promote and support the career decision making and planning of all students, both prior to entering and during the program of study.
- Operate as an advocate for and supporter of inquiry and problem-based learning
- Provide guidance and coaching to teachers on educational and instructional methodology related to inquiry and the implementation of project-based curriculum
- Facilitate the development, implementation, and communication of a shared vision of learning that reflects excellence and equity for all students
- Demonstrate the skills and attitude of a master teacher and actively engage others in
professional growth opportunities
- Serve as a resource for faculty and administrators as they seek additional resources, both traditional and electronic, which support the curriculum
- Work with faculty to create and disseminate information to various stakeholders about student’s projects and progress
- Work with community organizations to provide or expand co-curricular programming which supports student success
- Implement and monitor a system of measurement of student performance
- Provide data on programming to stakeholders and assist CTE Director with data reporting to
- Establish and meet regularly with an advisory committee for providing input on the following: curriculum design, student activities including various methods/opportunities for field experience, contacts for guest lecturers, certifications, fieldtrips and other.
- Improve the quality of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources education instruction, counseling, management, and leadership to produce success for all students through on-going professional development for Agricultural Science teachers in Northwest ISD.
- Use strategies for integrating academic and Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources education
- Contribute to the educational objectives of the public-school system by providing information to agriculture, food, and natural resources students about career pathways as a guide to achieving necessary skills for continued education and employment
- Provide students with educational and equitable experiences leading to career preparation, continued education, and employment
- Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction and ensure development of NISD agricultural science program opportunities.
- Inform community members and students about agriculture and agricultural literacy.
- Ensure lesson prepared for instruction, are in conformity with school policy, for all courses offered
- Effective management of budgets and resources for instructional materials and instructional methods used to make teaching and learning effective
- Evaluate assessments for basic/advanced skills and abilities of students developed in the school laboratory.
- Plan and conduct an organized program of instruction and/or community involvement with adults. This may include, but not limited to alumni, young farmers, and booster clubs. Most of this instruction will be given after school, at night and during the summer
- Validate for final submission stock show entries required by the stock show management and keep an accurate file copy of all records and reports.
- Regularly attend and participate in district and area in-service meetings.
- Attend summer workshops that are designed to provide professional skills and information. Attend State Professional Improvement Conference for Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Teachers.
- Supervise the programming for Northwest ISD FFA Alumni & Parent Association activities, meetings, logistics, communication and implementation.
- Supervise Northwest ISD Ag Center campus(s)
- Supervise Ag Center Facilitator maintenance staff including hours, overtime, duties, work orders, and support.
- Manage the maintenance and distribution of all agricultural facilities, equipment and vehicles
- Work with Career Access Coordinator to place students in work-based training stations for students placed in a Work Based Learning experience
- Ensure all programmatic needs are annually evaluated for equity and supervision.
- Annually evaluate program accessibility.
- Assist in coordinating instructional program with training experiences at the training station if the Work Based Learning program is offered.
- Maintain a summer program that includes FFA activities, teacher in-service, program development and educational activities. Work with teachers and individual campus administration to develop and carry out each of these program’s elements.
- Ensure All Agricultural Science teachers are upholding the duties of the FFA instructor.
- Support all CTE programs as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Able to maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Repetitive hand motions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, sitting, and keyboarding. Position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds to waist high.
