ORGANIZATION:
As the Area Agency on Aging and Community Action Agency for Northwest Indiana, founded in 1965, the CoAction Mission is to ensure the people who experience financial hardship find opportunities, resources, and respect. We do this by helping individuals of all ages and families, through direct services and referrals.
Serving residents in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Newton, Pulaski, and Starke Counties.
FUNCTION:
The Development Manager is responsible to develop and execute fundraising strategies, foster ongoing relationships with supporters and potential supporters, and participate in the planning and execution of fundraising events.
The Development Manager is expected to be an active participant in the agency’s mission, vision, and values. He/she shall work to ensure consistent, quality services to the agency’s constituents, demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility in assignments and maintain positive working relationships with all agency personnel.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Participation in the creation and implementation of the Fundraising Plan
- Identify, solicit, steward and cultivate donor relationships
- Generate philanthropic contributions
- Passionately advocate for the organization and its mission; represent the organization at community activities; and serve as a public ambassador for the organization.
- Raise awareness of the organization at meetings of community groups as requested
- Evaluate the effectiveness of specific events and advertising campaigns
- Attend special events on behalf of the organization
- Participate in budget preparation, forecasting, and management of funding and expenditures
- Provide leadership in execution of donor-focused marketing and communications strategies
- Project management and execution of development related events including assistance with event planning, implementation, clean up, and evaluation
- Manage fundraising operations including CRM, reporting, and reconciliation procedures
- Oversee acknowledgement, recognition, and appreciation of all donations, gifts, and pledges per established policy
- Assistance in grant research, grant writing, grant writing support for other team members, and grant tracking
- Generation and delivery of fundraising reports
- Participation in outreach and networking activities
- Performance of administrative duties as need
- Other duties as assigned
MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, fundraising or similar area and at least two years of experience in fundraising or public relations; OR
- At least five years of experience working in fundraising or public relations
- Experience leading a team to success
- Excellent people skills – outgoing and friendly personality with the ability to meet new people easily and work well with diverse individuals
- Knowledge of donor relations, cultivation, and stewardship
- Experience in utilization of CRM and event planning systems
- Proficiency in Office 365 and project management software
- Must have a mobile device that is compatible with company ran APs
